Frequently Asked Questions
I’m working with a career coach. Is this offer a substitute for that?
Your career coach gives you guidance as to what you should be doing and how it should be done. “YWP” gives you a chance to practice what you’re learning; it takes what you’ve learned and makes it real. Remember, if you can’t pitch it, you don’t “own” it.
Why do I have to make a video?
It’s like swimming. You can only do so much without jumping into the pool. Making a video starts to make it real and it lets us give you precision advice, on how you come across, and where your most powerful strengths and challenges are. In fact, just doing the video will start you on the road to increased success.
What if I don’t know how to make a video?
That’s ok. We’ll give you a free webcam. Webcams are so easy to use, the NY Times reported that Adele Lerner, age 101, uses one daily to talk to her 71 year old daughter. If she can use a webcam, you can, too.
We also have discounts on two or more requests submitted at the same time so that you can save money AND get support by working with a buddy.
I’m afraid it will end up on You Tube.
It won’t unless want it to or you share it with someone else,. What we’ve found is that after doing the video, many people want to share, just to get the video out there. But sharing is your decision.
It just seems scary; any tips on that?
Yes! The more you do it, the easier it will get. Since you are probably going to have to be ready to do videos throughout your career, now is the time to learn how to stand out as a top performer on screen.
How often should I do a video?
Our recommendation is that you practice for every “major” pitch or transaction. Otherwise, twice a year is a good rule of thumb for keeping your skills sharp
